ABSTRACT
A method has been developed to determine of Fe, Al, Ca, Mg, Si, Mn, P, Ti, V, Co and Ni in chromite ore by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) with sodium carbonate and tetraborate melting. The amount of fluxes, detecting lines, instrument working parameters and matrix effects are discussed in this paper. Moreover, the effect of different amounts of Cr on the detection results was investigated, which indicates that Cr influences the detection results significantly. The quantitative amount of Cr, fluxes and HCl were added to standard solutions to eliminate matrix effects. According to the concentration range of the elements in chromite ore, different concentrations of standard solution systems were prepared. The detection limits of the method were 0.12-3.83 μg/g, the RSDs were 0.65%-3.86% (n=12). National Standard Reference Materials (GBW 07201, GBW 07202) were analyzed and the results were in good agreement with the certified values and the recoveries were 91.4%-107.2%.
