Progresses in Research on Analysis of Benzene Series in Aquatic Environment

  • Benzene species i.e. BTEX including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes are the major carcinogenic substance and their pollution levels in water system are priority in monitoring. In this paper, the progresses in research on analytical methods for BTEX in natural aquatic environment were reviewed with 31 references. The analytical techniques including micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MECC), purge and trap gas chromatography (PT-GS), purge and trap method in combination with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (PT-GC-MS), portable gas chromatographymicroflame ionization detector combined with headspace solidphase microextraction (HS-SPME-portable-μGC-FID) are presented in details. 
