Raman Spectrometric Analysis of Corrosion Products from Ancient Bronzes Excavated from Jiuliandun Tombs

  • Raman microspectrometry was used to identify the corrosion products from ancient bronzes excavated from Jiuliandun tombs. The results indicate that malachite \CuCO3·Cu(OH)2\ is the main substance of green corrosion product; azurite \2CuCO3·Cu(OH)2\ is the main substance of blue corrosion product and paratacamite \Cu2(OH)3Cl\ is the main substance of slightly green corrosion product. Based on the analytical results, the scientific methods for protection of the ancient bronzes are proposed.
