A Study on the Representativeness of Sampling for Non-uniform Particle Size Chrome Ore
-
ABSTRACT
Forty samples of imported Turkish chrome ore were classified into five size groups (0-10 mm, 10-50 mm, 50-150 mm, 150-250 mm and greater than 250 mm) in which the difference of constituent contents and weight proportions were studied. The relevance of weight proportions in the 50-150 mm particles and constituent contents of the 40 samples was studied. The results show a correlation coefficient of 0.466 and a significance probability of 0.002, which indicates a highly significant correlation between them. Therefore, in order to improve the representativeness of sampling, the weight proportions in the 50-150 mm particle group should be correlated between the sampling ore samples and the actual cargo.
