  • Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is an advanced technical support for laboratory management, which can unceasingly enhance the laboratory efficiency and level in both management and decision-making by using modern information technology to improve the workflow and the organizational structure. Moreover, it is more important for the production geo-laboratories to improve laboratory economic benefits and market competitiveness. According to the management requirements and the information-flow characteristics of the production geo-laboratories, the related issues with existing problems on developing and application of LIMS in laboratory management were discussed in details. A new LIMS system based on the three sub-systems of the business management system, the quality control system and the organization manage system for the production geo-laboratories was proposed. The new LIMS system provides the six functions of technical management, workflow management, quality control, document management, system administration and foundation management.
