Analysis of Organochlorine Pesticide Residues in Marine Fishes from South China Sea
-
ABSTRACT
A sensitive method based on gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and capillary gas chromatography was developed for the determination of 11 kinds of organochlorine pesticide residues in marine fishes from South China Sea. Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCHs), dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDTs), dieldrin and heptachlor epoxide were detected out in these fishes. The residue level of DDTs is up to 26.73 μg/kg. 4 kinds of HCH residues in marine fishes from South China Sea were higher than those in fresh water fishes from Beijing market. The average residue level of DDTs was higher than those in fishes from Britain and Brazil. The results from the study show that organochlorine pesticide residues in marine fishes from South China Sea can be used as an indicator for environmental quality assessment of this area.
