Simulation Experiments on Influences of pH Level on the Vertical Migration of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Soils
-
ABSTRACT
The vertical migration behaviors of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soils are influenced by a number of factors. To study the effect of pH on the vertical migration of PAHs in soils, soil samples collected from Xuzhou were loaded artificially in the columns and adjusted to different pH levels with CaO and HAc. And deionized water was used as leaching solution. The results showed that PAHs in the soil columns with different pH values had different vertical migration behaviors. Low ring PAHs had strong vertical migration capability in soil columns with higher pH level. In contrast, high ring PAHs had strong vertical migration capability in soil columns with lower pH level.
