Determination of Trace Bisphenol A in Environmental and Biological Samples

ABSTRACT
As one of the environmental endocrinedisrupting chemicals, bisphenol A produces great harm to the environment and the human health due to its widespread use as the raw materials in chemical industry. This paper reviews the recent technical developments in the determination of trace bisphenol A in environmental and biological samples including sample separation, enrichment and analytical methods. Except for the regular sample pretreatment techniques, the applications of popular sample pretreatment technique such as stir bar sorptive extraction and molecular imprinting technique were also discussed. On the basis of the discussion on application of chromatographymass spectrometry for bisphenol A analysis, the application of immunoassay, biosensor and optical detection techniques for bisphenol A analysis were also reported in detail. Finally, the trend in development of bisphenol A analysis techniques was prospected. The tandem mass spectrometry may be one of the potential analytical techniques for bisphenol A analysis due to its low detection limit. In addition, the minimized, portable and automated analyzer with characteristics of low price, good repeatability and highthroughput may be another development direction for the rapid analysis of bisphenol A.
