Determination of Trace Ammonium in Secondary Refined Brine by Ion Chromatography
-
ABSTRACT
A new method was developed for determination of ammonium in secondary refined brine by ionchromatography separation and suppressed conductivity detection. The ammonium had a good resolution with sodium in the brine on IonPac CS16 column using MSA as gradient eluent. The detection limit of amine was 1.9 μg/L with linear correlation coefficient of 0.9995 in the range of 5~100 μg/L of ammonium. The spiked recoveries were 88%~107%. The secondary refined brine samples were pretreated through dilution and filtration before injection. The method provides good sensitivity and selectivity, easy operation and has been successfully used in measuring the ammonium in secondary refined brine in chloralkali industry.
