The techniques and methods used in in situ monitoring of surrounding rock deformation of approximate horizontal rock tunnel construction in G-B high-way project are presented. Based on the measured data, the deformation properties and deformation causes of surrounding rocks were analyzed and the classification of the deformation stages was discussed. The regression analysis for surrounding rock deformation was implemented on certain section of the tunnel. And the stability of surrounding rocks was also evaluated using displacement acceleration analysis. The monitoring and analysis results provide the scientific basis for highway tunnel construction.
