Determination of Major and Minor Elements in Ilmenite Samples by X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry with Fusion Sample Preparation Technique

  • A method for the determination of Fe, Ti, Si, Al, Ca, Mg, Mn, P, S, V and Cr in ilmenite samples by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry with fusion sample preparation technique has been developed. The effect of different fusion reagents on sample preparation are studied and mixed fusion reagent of Li2B4O7-Li2CO3 is proved to be more effective. The method has been applied to the determination of these elements in National Standard Reference magnetite samples and the results are in agreement with certified values. The precision of the method is 0.20%~9.10%RSD (n=10) for the major and minor elements.
