Abstract:
A method (called subtraction method) for the determination of sulfide content in marine sediments using elemental analyzer with direct solid sampling has been developed. Two samples were parallelly weighed, one was used for the determination of total sulfur, the other was burned at 500℃ for 3 h and then used for the determination of the remaining sulfur. The difference values of analytical results of sulfur in two samples is the content of sulfur in sulfides. The detection limit of the method was 0.018%, the recoveries were 97.7%~99.3% with the precision of 2.50%~5.48%RSD(
n=12). Compared with the conventional measurement method, the method provided the advantages of lower sample weighing, simple operation, high accuracy and reliability.
