Abstract:
Surface soil and air samples collected from Haizhu District of Guangzhou City were analysed for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). The status of OCPs residues and the potential ecological risk were studied. The results showed that the concentration of total HCHs in surface soils in 2007 winter and in 2008 summer ranged from 0.57 to 8.77 ng/g and 0.30 to 14.9 ng/g with the averages of 2.87 ng/g and 3.04 ng/g respectively. Both HCHs and DDTs did not exceed the National Soil Quality Standard Level Ⅰ (natural background level). The concentration of DDTs in the surface soils in winter and summer ranged from 3.69 to 697.7 ng/g and 0.88 to 263.3 ng/g, with the average of 85.5 ng/g and 39.4 ng/g respectively. The concentration of DDTs in several samples exceeded the National Soil Quality Standard Level Ⅰ. DDTs are the main OCPs residues in the surface soils in the study district. Fugacity model has been preliminarily applied in the study area.
