Abstract:
Nine components including TFe(total iron), SiO2, Al2O3, P, S, CaO, MgO, MnO and TiO2 in iron ores were determined by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The samples were fused with mixed flux of Li2B4O7 and LiBO2 (67∶33). The homogeneous cobalt glass powder was prepared with CoO3 and used as internal standard to improve the accuracy and precision. LiNO3 was added as oxidizing agent to prevent sulfur from volatilization during fusion. The method provides the advantages of higher accuracy and precision, simple operation and more efficiency over the classical chemical methods.
