Abstract:
Trace elements contents and rare earth elements (REEs) characteristics of turquoise samples from Zhushan and Ma′anshan area were analyzed. The analysis techniques of X-ray Energy Dispersive Spectrometry, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD), Infrared Spectrometry (IR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) were applied in this study on the mineral and structure characteristics. Research results indicated that trace elements contents of turquoise from the two areas were very different, but consistent in major elements compositions. Heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) were enriched in samples from both areas, however, the REEs distribution pattern diagram presented Pr reverse. Samples from Ma′anshan area showed negative anomaly in Eu. The research also indicated that turquoises from Ma′anshan area have better crystallinity than that from Zhushan. The studied method is suitable for the identification of turquoise.
